An international event organized by one of our club members
On Sunday, October 3, 2021, Global Liaison Team, Toastmasters District 76 Japan hosted an international leadership event called "Leadership, You Have the Power!". At this event, participants from all over the world enjoyed exchanging ideas and interacting with each other. The event organizer of this event was one of our members, Yuki.
She wanted to plan and organize the leadership event because one of the major objectives of the Toastmasters is to help members learn and acquire leadership skills. Since she joined Toastmasters in April 2021, she always wanted to know what leadership is all about. She wondered how often we Toastmasters really think of and talk about leadership. And then, she thought “Why not exchange our thoughts on this topic with people across clubs, regions, countries, and cultures in an international setting?”
This thought urged her to organize the event with other Global Liaison team members. Simply, she was hoping to create a space where people from all over the world get together and talk about their unique perspectives freely and learn from each other. To make the event more diverse and meaningful, she invited 2 speakers from overseas who were both right for the topic and whom she truly respects. To organize an event, to deliver a speech, to lead a team to success, she made the most of what she’d learned in the Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club!
The event featured 3 sessions.
1. Inspirational speeches
#1 Yuki Barano, Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club, District 76 (Japan)
Theme: “Leadership belongs to us all”
#2 Rose Hanh Yuan, President, Doylestown Toastmasters Club, VP Education, Harleysville Toastmasters Club, District38 (The U.S.)

#3 Justin Ng, Connaught Toastmasters Club, District51 (Malaysia)

2. All participants from all over the world participated in small groups and deepened their thoughts and exchanged his/her own perspective. After each discussion, they also had time to share their takeaways in a whole group so that everyone could learn from other groups’ discussions as well.
3. The participants could meet and build the connection with Toastmasters and also non-Toastmasters from all over the world throughout the event.
