Having been in Toastmasters since 2012, this fantastic community has given me so much. When I joined Toastmasters back in 2012, I was not confident about public speaking and my English was poor. However, thanks to Toastmasters activity, I really improved a lot and could get a chance to work in Belgium for 4 years as an expatriate.
Back in Japan in 2020, I joined Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club. This club is full of people who strongly desire to hone public speaking skills and leadership skills. It has been the best place for me to further develop my skills being surrounded by passionate members.

I had heard about Toastmasters for a long time, but I was hesitant to join until I met Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club. Here I got good mentors and friends. I have challenged myself to make public speeches both online and in front of people, and taken roles in the meetings, which have helped me to build my leadership skills. By the way, my favorite role is ….always my next role. haha…
I still remember the day I joined. Miss C said to me, “I wish I had joined SOL when I was your age. ” But I want to say, it's never too late to make the decision, as long as you want to take even a little step. I'm glad I made the right choice.

When I took part in my first meeting of Shin-Osaka Leaders as a guest in July 2022, I got inspired by the high level of motivation of all the members. Since joining this club, I have already learned a lot. This is a great team that helps and encourages one another. I can try various things here because every member is my strong ally.

I’ve been in Toastmasters World for many years. Before SOL, I was in three other groups. I joined the SOL after the Covid-19 pandemic and I participated in the meetings online. I’ve never met any of the members in person; however, I never feel isolated because the members are super friendly. Their hybrid meeting works perfectly, thanks to everyone’s efforts. Here in SOL, I can feel like I am in a multicultural setting while in Japan. Our members have different nationalities and backgrounds. Attending meetings regularly is sometimes challenging, but SOL is worth trying out. Because I always have a fulfilling time during the meetings, I feel happy that I joined every time. We call each other by our first names or nicknames, depending on our preference. SOL is a place where everybody has fun being themselves. If you are on a journey of self-discovery, SOL is the place!!

I came to know Toastmasters International during my college days in the Philippines. When I arrived in Japan two decades ago, I had been looking for a Toastmasters club to hone my interpersonal skills and call my “home” club. I have checked a few clubs already and attended as a guest, but it was just recently when I came to know Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club and felt that instant connection - and that made me a proud member now!
Despite my busy schedule, I can’t contain my excitement to attend every session and take on a challenging role. Meeting people with diverse backgrounds and interests but sharing the same vision to unleash our potential and become the better version of ourselves in a supportive environment is a unique experience. I can’t wait to discover further what’s in store for me in this journey. Hooray! We can do it!

When I was just about ten, my mom used to take me to her Toastmasters meetings.Now that I have reached the minimum age requirement and started to dream for my future, I took the courage to join Toastmasters, too. Despite the challenges and being anxious about how to keep up with activities and everyone else, I am having fun. In every meeting, I always learn something new.
The speeches delivered by my fellow Toastmasters are awe-inspiring. When members deliver their speeches, I can understand their backgrounds and enjoy imagining how the story will unfold.
My next goal is to gain more self-confidence and I know I can do it. You can, too!

I waited for twenty years to join Toastmasters. This is the biggest regret of my life. Toastmasters, as Darren LaCroix, the 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking, often says, is "the greatest place to screw up." We learn by making mistakes. And we enjoy outside of Toastmasters the benefit of the skills we learn here.
If you're interested, don't wait. Drop by one of our meetings. If you don't like it, you can stay away. If you like it, you can reap the great benefit of Toastmasters for months and years to come. You have nothing to lose.
