Last Executive Committee Meeting this term, May 23, 2023 (Online)

Revolutionary President

In Toastmasters, members share the responsibilities of running the club, and at the core of that effort are the seven club officers, President, Vice President of Education, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Public Relations, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant-at-Arms. They comprise the Club Executive Committee. What's revolutionary about it? Well, the leadership structure itself is common to all Toastmasters clubs, but this year has seen tremendous improvement and inclusiveness in the club management, thanks to President Yuki's initiative.

Up until the last program year, Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club officers were exchanging ideas and information using Facebook Messenger so that each can read and reply at their convenience. We thought that was the most efficient way of communication. Having regular meetings was seen as ineffective. This year, however, Yuki proved otherwise. She decided that we hold a monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday night of every month and follow up on the tasks left untouched from the previous month(s). This has proven really productive. We got a lot more done.

Also, she initiated the move for the officers to take a closer look at what members wrote in our "Meeting Feedback" form after each meeting. Different members have different opinions and by discussing these comments and providing feedback to these comments as the club executive committee, we came to share more common understanding and expectation of each other. Yuki also insisted that some club officers make regular reports at the executive committee meetings. For example, the Vice President of Education reported the members' progress with regard to the Distinguished Club Program. Treasurer regularly reported the club's financial status.

Though, at times, there were some instances where the executive committee meetings took slightly too long, the overall cost-benefit analysis definitely shows a big plus. As this was the last executive meeting under Yuki's leadership, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for her dedication and initiatives that revolutionized the way our club is run. Thank you, Yuki.
