Beautiful teamwork!
This is the word that describes this meeting. A lot of members pitched in to make the meeting work the best way it possibly could.
These days, some members seem to be extremely busy at work and they sometimes have to cancel their commitment at the club. A lot happened this time. Two prepared speech speakers had to cancel their attendance, meaning we needed two substitute speakers. Then came two heroes, Maho and Keiji! They agreed to move up their speeches that they were planning to deliver later. On top of that, other members pitched in to serve a new role, taking on two roles, and all that. They showed great teamwork. (It would have been even better if the speakers had been able to honor their assignment or let others know earlier, but what was inevitable was inevitable.)
With all the contributions by the members, we enjoyed four prepared speeches, four Table Topics (impromptu) speeches and five evaluation speeches. The first speaker, Yuki, delivered the second speech in three days. (She had just delivered a speech two days earlier at an event hosted by the Global Liaison team of District 76 on Oct. 3.) What a challenge! The second speaker, Keiji, talked about his experience about tips, stressing the benefit of the custom and encouraging members to be generous in paying tips. The third speaker, Maho, discussed her upcoming project of holding an event dedicated on evaluation speeches. The last speaker, Eileen, incorporated some feedback received for her previous speech and delivered a revised one on making decisions. Table Topics were centered around new technologies and we all enjoyed four impromptu speeches. All five evaluators were sincere and supportive in providing valid suggestions, especially, Pan the first-time evaluator did a phenomenal job in delivering a to-the-point evaluation speech. Congratulations, everyone!
We welcomed two guests, one Toastmaster and one non-Toastmasters, this time. We look forward to welcoming more guests in the coming meetings!
