At today’s meeting, we conducted a Club Success Series session called Moments of Truth, one of the programs offered by Toastmasters International.

Moments of Truth is designed to help clubs reflect on the member experience by focusing on a simple but important question: Why do people choose to join a club, and why do they choose to stay?

Focus of the Session: Membership

In this session, we placed a special focus on Membership, particularly Membership Strength. Based on feedback collected during a previous Moments of Truth session held last July, Membership Strength was identified as the area where our club needs to continue putting effort.

Hearing Members’ Voices

In the second half of the session, we invited members to reflect on their own experiences by asking two questions:

• To newer members: “What made YOU join this club?”

• To experienced members: “What keeps you coming back to Toastmasters?”

  
  

Members openly shared their thoughts and personal stories.

Some of the responses included:

• wanting more opportunities to speak English,

• being able to use English and communication skills in their work,

• being motivated by the high level of English proficiency among the club members,

• joining more than one club in order to gain more opportunities, and

• wanting more chances to practice public speaking.

  
  

These reflections helped us better understand what members value and what keeps them engaged in the club.

Looking Ahead

Moments of Truth is not about evaluation or criticism. It is about reflection, dialogue, and continuous improvement. By listening to our members’ voices and experiences, we were able to gain valuable insights into what makes Shin-Osaka Leaders meaningful—and how we can continue to grow together as a club.

We look forward to using today’s insights to strengthen our membership and create an even better experience for both current and future members.
