his was the first meeting of the program year 2021-2022, which started on July 1, 2021, and lasts until June 30, 2022. At the beginning of the meeting was the Installation Ceremony for the new club officers. This is a very important event at Toastmasters, which has the tag line of "Where Leaders Are Made" and trains people to develop their leadership skills running the club. Every year, we elect different people for the seven officer positions (President, Vice President Education, Vice President Membership, Vice President Public Relations, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant-at-Arms) to lead the club to success.
The seven officers elected at our fifth regular meeting on May 11 are in this photo taken at their kick-off meeting on July 4, and will lead us until June 30 next year. The Installation Ceremony was conducted by the newly-appointed Area 63 Director, a duel member of our club. After the outgoing president's speech, the new officers were installed. The incoming president made the inaugural speech and presided over the meeting fromt that point on.
This was also the first meeting after we decided to extend the meeting hours by 10 minutes to finish at 9:10 p.m. Thanks to the extension, we enjoyed eight Table Topics speeches (impromptu speeches) and still managed to end the meeting on time.
The education portion of the meeting was led by a first-time Toastmaster of the Day, who obviously prepared for the role thoroughly. We listened to two prepared speeches, enjoyed eight Table Topics speeches, and two evaluation speeches. Overall, we made a very solid head start for the new program year!
