Another delightful meeting!
We had another delightful meeting with the help of two Toastmasters from other clubs. It was delightful in that
1. We had three intriguing speeches: one with a political theme, a revised one, and an interview.
2. We had interesting topics for Table Topics, one of which turned hilarious.
3. We discussed and voted on whether to incorporate "Word of the Day" in our meetings.
4. We welcomed back a member who has been missing the meetings due to his busy schedule at work.
The first speaker delivered a speech talking about politics, which is relatively rare in Toastmasters, adding some spice to our meeting. The second speaker revised her speech incorporating the feedback she received for her first speech and proved her flexibility. The third speaker exercised her impromptu speaking skills in the form of a role-play modeled on a job interview for a manager position. Well done, everyone!
The Topicsmaster took the role for the first time and conducted the session marvelously with well-thought-out thought-provoking questions. One Table Topics speaker made the entire audience burst into laughter.
At the business session toward the end, we discussed and voted on whether to have "Word of the Day" in our future meetings. When the five founders started this club, we did not include "Word of the Day" because we thought the downside overweighs the benefit. Yet, one of the new members introduced "Word of the Day" when she first served as Grammarian and we had fun. Hence, the discussion and vote. And the outcome is to leave the decision to the member who serves as Grammarian at each meeting. Thank you, all, for your thoughts.
It is always delightful to see someone who has missed a couple of meetings again at our meeting. When a member who missed the last couple of meetings showed up twenty minutes before the end of the meeting, everybody at the venue was caught by pleasant surprise. And look at the reaction of the Zoom attendees when he was introduced at the end of the meeting!!
All the attendees at KOKO PLAZA stayed until almost 10:00 talking about what happened at the meeting, making suggestions on how to improve our speeches, and planning future meetings, which was also a lot of fun.
Join us at any of our meetings if you want to be a better English speaker, a better public speaker, a better leader, and a better communicator!!
