Last Meeting of the Year
This marked our last meeting in 2024. We normally have meetings on the first, third, and fifth Tuesdays, but we postponed our meeting on the fifth Tuesday of the month because we expected very few participants on New Year's Eve.
We had three prepared speeches and two speakers discussed their experiences being a protégé, or mentee. This project, called "Introduction to Toastmasters Mentoring," is one of the projects in Level 2 of Pathways, our education program. This project is important because Toastmasters sees mentoring as one of its four growth principles, Experiential learning, Peer feedback, Mentoring, and Self-paced program. Izz and Swan completed this project and with that, they completed all the projects in Level 2. Congratulations!
Longer-than-usual Table Topics Session
We enjoyed the Table Topics Session for practicing impromptu speaking longer than usual. The Topicsmaster, the facilitator of the session, Mariko, gave us topics suitable for the occasion. The topics were:
Spark
Reindeer
Snow
Red nose
New Year's Resolution
Christmas movie
Sound of Bell Ringing
We enjoyed impromptu speeches by five members and two Toastmasters guests.
Forty-three speeches in 15 meetings
Over the past six months, we collectively delivered 43 speeches in 15 meetings against our goal of delivering 100 speeches in one year. We are slightly behind schedule, but we are hopeful because the first half included some meetings with fewer speeches to secure time for discussions on club performance and club finance reviews. Hopefully, we will have more speeches in the latter half of the program year.
