One of our guests shared an insightful comment about the importance of feedback during today’s meeting at Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club.
As we become working professionals, there are many situations where we are expected not only to receive feedback, but also to give feedback to others. However, giving feedback is not always easy. It requires communication skills, empathy, and the ability to express opinions in a way that encourages others without making them feel uncomfortable or discouraged.
The guest also mentioned that feedback is not only a skill that helps others grow, but also a skill that helps us grow ourselves. By carefully observing others, organizing our thoughts, and communicating them constructively, we can deepen our own understanding and improve our communication skills at the same time.
At Shin-Osaka Leaders, we do not focus only on positive comments. We always try to provide constructive feedback as well. Our members make an effort to identify areas for improvement so that both the speaker and evaluator can continue growing together.
This is one of the strengths of our club. We support each other not only by encouraging one another, but also by helping each other improve in a respectful and constructive way.
What makes this experience even more valuable is that we practice all of these skills entirely in English. Not only speeches, but also meeting roles, speech evaluations, reports from the Ah-Counter and Grammarian, and even casual conversations are all conducted in English. Through these experiences, members develop practical communication skills that can also be applied in professional and multicultural environments.
