Regular Meeting 15, Sept. 21, 2021 (Online)

Exemplary performances In Shin-Osaka Leaders, members are making debuts serving in different meeting roles. This time, we had two members serving in a role for the first time. Yuki and Win served for the first time as Toastmaster and Timer, respectively. And they did a phenomenal job, exemplary job. Let's start with Yuki. She served as Toastmaster of the Day. This role is responsible for the entire educational portion of the meeting. On the surface, the Toastmaster serves as the master of ceremonies, introducing functionary role takers and speakers. Yet, on a much deeper level, they should be responsible for ensuring that each and every meeting participants are ready to perform their roles and this includes making the last-minute arrangements when someone has to cancel their participation at the last minute. Yuki did just that beautifully. She sent emails and/or messages to arrange substitutes and helped Win with her new role as Timer. Thanks to her dedication, the meeting went super smoothly. Win did an outstanding job as the Timer. Usually, the Timer is expected to time prepared, Table Topics, and prepared speeches and report the exact time in a timely manner. She did that flawlessly, posting in the chat window the time right after every speech was over with whether the speaker was eligible for voting for the Best Speaker, Best Table Topics, or Best Evaluator recognitions. On top of that, she posted in the chat window when exactly each segment of the meeting started for accurate records for future reference. Obviously, there were so many other things done beautifully and there are some that could use some improvement, like Hideo going overtime in his evaluation speech. In a nutshell, we enjoyed another productive meeting and we can't wait to welcome guests to our meetings starting on October 5.

Our goals video At the business session, President Maho invited the members to film a video talking about their goals for the year, based on the suggestion by Vice President Public Relations Chinami. Setting goals is one great way to make sure you get things done, and sharing them with someone else holds you accountable. It motivates you to be committed to your goals, making it more likely for you to meet your goals.
