Regular Meeting 21, Dec. 7, 2021 (Hybrid)

Flexibility

This was a meeting that demonstrated how flexible we are. This time, one of the four scheduled prepared speakers had to stay away from the meeting for personal reasons that came up at the last minute.

The solution was the "Happy News" session, where participants shared one piece of their happy news. While Toastmasters meetings are well-organized and every session is focused on helping members hone their skills, it also means we do not have that many opportunities to know each other well during the meeting, with the exception of Table Topics, where some members divulge some of their secrets. The "Happy News" session revealed a lot of information that we don't normally share in our meetings, and we all cherished that.

The meeting itself was as productive as usual with three prepared speeches, six Table Topics speeches, and three evaluation speeches as well as in-depth Ah-Counter and Grammarian reports and General Evaluation.

One thing that was a bit regrettable was that all the evaluators went overtime. It seemed that they wanted to incorporate a summary at the end of the evaluation speech, which in itself is a nice thing, and ended up going overtime. Incorporating a summary worked well in the "Evaluation Festival" meeting on November 30. Yet, when we have more information, it is wise to skip it to stay within the allotted time. Let's see how we can learn from this lesson in the upcoming meeting on December 21, our last one in 2021.

We got used to setting up our "Hybrid" environment with three members helping each other. The preparation at the venue was as smooth as it can ever be, and we are fully ready to welcome more guests! Visit us and have fun.

Our next meeting: December 21 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:10 p.m.
