Our First Hybrid Meeting in Four Months
This was our first hybrid meeting since Dec. 21, 2021. We had four members and a guest at KOKO PLAZA, the venue for our meetings. Though the majority of attendees were online, it creates a unique atmosphere to have some people at the venue speaking toward the audience at the venue and others online. In this era of online presentations, public speaking still comes down to speaking in front of real people. Hopefully, we want to welcome more members and guests to the venue going forward.
Now, Shin-Osaka Leaders have members in different parts of Japan. We have members living in Tokyo, Chiba, Gunma, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, and Fukuoka. (I hope I haven't missed anybody.) While It's great to have an online setting that accommodates members living far away from the venue, it would make us happier if more members can take advantage of our strength of holding quality hybrid meetings and make speeches in front of real people.
That is what we decided back in August 2020. Seeing the treads of online presentations taking the main stage, we figured that it would be necessary for a Toastmasters club to provide the environment for members to practice both online and physical presentations back then. With the society more receptive to holding physical meetings, we want to continue to have hybrid meetings to provide our members with opportunities to practice physical presentations at the venue while continuing to provide opportunities for online presentations.
