Improvement observed
In Toastmasters, we do not have teachers or instructors. Instead, we value four growth principles of Experiential learning, Peer feedback, Mentoring, and Self-paced program. In this particular meeting, we witnessed examples of Peer feedback and Mentoring.
In the Prepared Speech session the third speaker, Mariko, delivered her speech "Tones" for the second time. She delivered that speech at our 44th Regular Meeting on October 4. She incorporated some of the feedback she received for that speech and polished the speech and delivered it again at this meeting. This is part of our educational program called Pathways, and this particular project is called "Evaluation and Feedback." A member delivers a speech, receives feedback from their peers, and then incorporates the feedback into their second speech. Her speech became more engaging and attractive through this project.
Another speaker, Maho, talked about her experience of being guided by a mentor when she served as a contest chair at one of the past speech contests. Toastmasters clubs have new members and more experienced members, who can serve as a mentor to newer members, and guide them as they transition into their new journey as a Toastmaster.
In Toastmasters, you can expect to learn new things in a safe, supportive, and fun environment where you can try new things without fear of your failure causing any serious damage. If you're interested, sign up for a meeting via the Contact Us form, join us at the meeting, and see it for yourself.
Guess what some members are laughing so hard about.
