Two Level 1 Completions, Full Mark on the Distinguished Club Program
At this meeting, which marked the last meeting of the program year 2022-2023, two members delivered an evaluation speech as part of the Evaluation and Feedback project. This project is a very important one because members experience one of Toastmasters' growth principles, "peer feedback," first-hand. In this project, a member delivers a speech and receives feedback, which they try to incorporate into their next speech. They experience how to accept and incorporate feedback. The next step is to provide feedback, which is the third task in this project. They listen to a speech delivered by another member, deliver their evaluation speech, and receive feedback from a more experienced member in the form of an evaluation speech. This time, two members, Maiko and Dashe, worked on the task and completed their "Evaluation and Feedback" project and their Level 1. Congratulations!!
This brought us two additional education awards for a total of 17 education awards in the Distinguished Club Program, a kind of health check of a club. The Distinguished Club Program has three layers of awards: the Distinguished Club award with five or six points earned out of ten points, the Select Distinguished Club award with seven or eight points earned, and the President's Distinguished Club award with nine or ten points earned. The Shin-Osaka Leaders has earned the President's Distinguished Club award every year since it was chartered in January 2021, but this is the first time we've earned the full mark of 10 out of 10. Great achievement, Shin-Osaka Leaders!
Installation Ceremony
At the end of the meeting was the Installation Ceremony, where outgoing officers were discharged from their roles, and seven incoming officers were installed in their elected positions. Moving forward, the Shin-Osaka Leaders Toastmasters Club will be operated with these seven officers at its core with Mariko, the new president overseeing the entire operation. What is worth mentioning is that four out of those seven are taking on an officer role for the first time in their Toastmasters membership. Some of them have been supporting some of the outgoing officers as their committee members while others have joined some of the executive committee meetings to learn how the club is run. Good luck, new officers!! We will do our best to make your job easier!
