Happy moments
In Toastmasters, there are some happy moments. One of these is when we welcome a new member. This meeting started with that happy moment welcoming Nao to the team in an official induction ceremony.
The induction ceremony started with the introduction of the new member, followed by the Toastmaster's promise read out loud by the new member and the club's pledge read out loud by every club member led by her mentor, Maiko. The ceremony culminated with our signature round of handshakes, where every club member at the venue takes turns shaking hands with the inductee, and then online members have virtual handshakes.
This meeting featured another happy moment, when Maiko, a member living in Mie Prefecture, about a two-hour train ride away from Shin-Osaka, visited our venue for the first time since she joined the club in December 2022. She was a member of another club before joining Shin-Osaka Leaders but had to leave the club due to a scheduling conflict after her work schedule changed. It is a blessing that she chose Shin-Osaka Leaders because it means a lot when someone like her who has nurtured exceptional skills over time in Toastmasters finds our club attractive and worth joining. We had to wait for a full year until we finally had a chance to meet her in person. This was a truly happy moment all the more.
It's always good to welcome a new member and see someone who shares the same passion with you in person.
